Welcome to IndigitalCultures!
IndigitalCutlures was designed to be a safe space for Indigenous people to share, connect, tell stories, and foster community. Our goal is to reflect Indigenous values in an online space in a way that honours the various cultural practices, protocols, histories and ways of life that are expressed all across Turtle Island.
Consider IndigitalCultures.ca a corner of the internet created by Indigenous people, for Indigenous people.
IndigitalCultures.ca was founded on the principles of OCAP; Ownership, Control, Access and Possession. These principles govern the activities and behaviors of the site.
- Our mission is to elevate Indigenous Arts, Knowledge and Lifelong Learning. The IndigitalCultures.ca platform is a place to share and connect with Indigenous community members across Turtle Island. We want to empower Indigenous people to learn and share, with the goal of enriching the Indigenous cultural identity.
- You own the content that you post. Users maintain the right to delete posts. Users have full discretion over what they post, who can see it, and who can access it outside of IndigitalCultures.ca. We ask that any sacred, or community owned knowledge be protected. Users must have the verified appropriate permissions before posting anything of that nature.
- Relationship building. IndigitalCultures.ca was designed with the intention to foster relationships. To use content that is owned by another user, one must reach out to said user and form a relationship to be granted access. We ask that any and all transactions take place outside of the platform.
- Have fun! Make posts that empower others. Share stories to make one another laugh. Post videos that educate others on cultural knowledge that may have been lost. Approach everyone with respect, kindness, and an eagerness to learn.
